Linda Doyon

Linda interprets her feelings towards whales through the modification of driftwood pieces she finds along the beaches near her home.

Linda’s thirty-year experience observing the whales summering in the waters off northern Cape Breton has instilled in her a love of these gentle, gigantic mammals. From kayaks, fishing boats and wind surfers, as well as during hikes along the cliffs and solitary beach walks, she has marvelled at their tolerance of her presence in and near their environment. Her work attempts to capture not only the shape and gentle spirit of the animal, but its friendliness, patience and ever-present playfulness as well.
