Hélène Blanchet
Hélène Blanchet is a self-taught folk artist who specializes in colourful art quilts made by hand.
Hélène was born in Montreal, and has lived in this province since the age of 7. Although she feels close to her French Canadian heritage, she is most at home in her beloved Nova Scotia. Hélène has been dabbling in the fibre arts ever since she can remember and has been quilting on and off for about 30 years. She is mostly self-taught, and in recent years has begun to experiment with surface design and abstraction. She describes her work as textile folk art and draws inspiration from every day life, the natural world and her love of colour. She lives quietly off-grid in the middle of the woods with her husband and dog, Rosie, in the Highlands of Cape Breton.
